Corà Domenico & Sons SpA

Profile

Corà has been operating in the Italian and international markets since 1919. The company based in Vicenza, with its continual development over the years, today represents the “economic and production history” of the Italian wood sector, from the search for raw materials to their industrial processing and crafting. Corà is a company that has desired and achieved change, renewing itself, from one generation to another, becoming a leader both in Italy and abroad. In every country Corà imports materials from, it insists on respect for the forest environment: the oldest natural resource known to man.
We can easily appreciate wood for its natural beauty, its undeniable usefulness and its ecological value as a material, but it’s not the same thing to know which type of wood makes the best boats, the hardiest floors, the most weather-proof windows.

Mission

Wood is like a book that tells a story: the growth rings take the place of words. It is an ancient and noble material that humans have always turned to for ensuring survival and improving their lifestyle.
Wood renews itself season after season, cycle after cycle. Its continuous existence depends on man’s care and respect for the entire ecosystem that ecompasses this priceless elements.
More than any other material, it imparts sentiment to homes, furniture and decor: Wood enlivens, gives warmth and adorns.
The modern technology of wood has been handed down from a very ancient and highly-skilled craftsmanship. Many skills have been completely lost over the centuries, while many others have been replaced using new materials and new working methods.
Aware of the changes that have made up its history, Corà has never wished to treat wood as solely a product, but, on the contrary, in its 90 years of history in serving craftspeople and industry, it has always held trees, woods and forests to be an invaluable heritage, to be safeguarded at any cost. For this reason, the search for supply sources that are certified and sustainably managed forests, has become Corà’s mission.

The Wood reassembled into thin layers was first employed by the Egyptians and then the Romans. Thus, plywoods and multiply panels have been known from ancient times and it is well recognized that their durability depends on various factors, one of which being the species of wood. Increased durability results from using selected wood types, or using the right chemical protection treatment.
One of the most important physical properties of plywood is the volume mass that depends on the percentage of adhesive used to glue the layers together and on the pressure exerted by the press planes during assemby. Generally, the volume mass of the plywood is higher than that of wood it is composed of.
